AmericanaUK live review

Rather splendid live review from at Americana UK music site here: “luckily this was one of the first dates on their tour, so you’ve got most of June and July to do so – either at festivals (they’re playing Cambridge this year) or in pretty small rooms: either would be great, but a year or two down the line you’ll kick yourself if you missed them close up in a box sized venue.”

Live review at Ingolstadt Blues Festival Germany

Thanks to Sandra Isabel Knobloch for this review of the Ingolstadt show in the local paper:

Overflowing energy and in-depth emotion form the basis for a Hat Fitz and Cara concert, a congenial duo who guest at Ingolstadt Bluesfest yet it seems like a visit from old friends.
Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson have audible and visible pleasure in their music, and ensure exuberant mood. Hat Fitz is so quaint like his guitar, he sits with a long beard and outback hat casually on the stage and interprets their own new songs.
The two have a really original sound: Cara Robinson presents herself in an (old) fashionable dress on a motley drumkit and really lets rip. Combining simple grooves with her haunting voice makes each number a pleasure. In particular, the pieces of Figures such as Bessie Smith, the “Empress of the Blues”

All the better that Fitz and Robinson with their new disc, “Do Tell” honours the New World and even the audience in the gospel style “Power” could sing along animatedly. Whether quiet ballad, powerful blues stomp or faster Shuffle: Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson inspired their listeners from the first to the last minute!

The Rocker review ‘Do Tell’

Thanks to ‘The Rocker’ for the following review of our new album:

HAT FITZ & CARA ROBINSON Do Tell Manhaton
And we’re finishing off the day with the welcome arrival of the new album from Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson.
And it’s another good one.  They would both do well as solo performers, but the combination of things that should not work, does just that.  They’re still, basically, a blues duo, but there is more emphasis on ballads this time, something that suits the vocals perfectly.
With some sensitively arranged on a couple of numbers – namely ‘Do Tell’ and ‘Stray Hat’ – helping to turn them into album highlights, it’s a direction they think about for the next offering.  But even when it’s just them, on the likes of ‘Friday Night’ and ‘Sister Sister’, it makes for an engrossing display of roots music.  Highly recommended.

Acoustic Magazine review

Acoustic Magazine just reviewed our new CD!
“Now with slide playing genius Jeff Lang at the board, they might just have hit pay dirt. Cara Robinson has always had a stunning voice, but when its finally unleashed in its full seductive glory on the soulful ‘Friday Night’ and ‘Gotta Love’, it’s goddebumps time. As for Hat, well his slide playing is nothing short of world class..”
Available from Manhaton, iTunes, Amazon and more!
